The following few pages are examples of Jim's websites.

Hopefully they may assist you in your research. Please feel free to visit any or all of them.

In the right column, the times, in approx. hours, refer to the accumulated amount used in developing the total website.

These times are not very accurate as, with most of the jobs, time was not a consideration. However, you might find them helpful for budget preparation.

Navigation and Content Concepts

graphics, colour, music
A very good example of Jim's flare with digital graphics

The Canadian Scottish Rite organization enjoys a membership from across Canada. Being part of the Freemasonry family, they participate in ritual with a colourfully dramatic flare. I felt the theme of this site should demonstrate that flare. Creating many symbolic graphics, applying some heavenly music, and using uncomplicated navigation, the job was handled successfully. Over 300,000 visitors to date. It is a prime example of a yesterday's design, (1998), having the legs to last for over nine years. Amazingly, there is still no desire to alter the original appearance.

handling vast information
Jim's ability to organize is well demonstrated in this site.

This Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario website has been active since 1998 with modifications over the years. The content is updated daily, and the main graphic is re-designed often in order to represent the Grand Master's latest speech. More than half a million visitors have benefited from the over '500' pages of information. Due to this vast amount of information, and the need for easy navigation, this site's content presentation is controlled by implementing a seamless frames construction.  I have just turned the maintenance of this site over to a younger brother as it was growing faster then I expected.

keeping your user in mind
Jim has speeches on this site, his eloquence on display.

Still within the Masonry family, this District Masonic website set the example for 46 other Masonic districts in Ontario and is an award winner. Using blue hues, to represent their Craft Lodges, and gold for the Muskoka-Parry Sound sunsets, it is another fine example of using theme colours, and unique graphics to represent their message. The use of simple, but stylish, navigation; was implemented keeping their membership's abilities in mind -many of whom are PC newbies. The use and popularity of this website has grown remarkably in the last year.

sharing resources
Shriners do a lot of good, a tip of the fez to them.

The Waubuno Shrine Club, and the Muskoka Shrine Club share a site with the above Muskoka-Parry Sound District Masons, thus offering economy, shared resources; along with sharing each others visitors, guest book, and links. And yet, each group still maintains their unique identities.
If your company or organization has a similar opportunity then this concept should be kept in mind. The approximate time shown on the right is an example of the time spent on design and graphics for the Waubuno Shrine Club portion.
Note: the Scottish Rite and Shrine websites use music to enhance their unique character, however music is not generally recommended to be used in commercial or institutional websites -as many find it annoying.

The Heritage Lodge No. 730 website, this lodge is part of Grand Lodge and their importance is in saving the heritage of Freemasonry by archiving documents, speeches, etc. Several hundred members strong, this lodge is open to all Master Masons of Ontario to join and make use of in their studies. It is constructed within frames and utilizes content navigation on both sides of the main frame to allow ease of flow and future document archiving. approx.

The Barrie Valley Scottish Rite website uses a black background with graphics embedded into the background so that other graphics can be placed over them thus creating a dimensional look. Completely done in html this site uses tables, cells and scripted cells offering a modern looking theme but using older methods of web design. If I hadn't of told you, you would not have known. approx.
